Letter From the Ranch
August 25, 2021
2021 has brought about several changes. As we look forward to fall there is much optimism in the beef marketplace. Amidst a pandemic, beef demand is at a 30-year high, and markets are trending upwards to benefit producers. We all strive to build a herd that will stand the strains of time. The last few years have been a test of this we know. Outlooks for demand are very optimistic as global and domestic demand continue to grow.
The central plains have been blessed this summer with adequate moisture. This presents much assurance going into the fall as most producers have a good stockpile of forage and hay. New Mexico and West Texas have finally caught a break with much needed moisture. We are excited as analysts are predicting strong improvements for cow-calf producers profitability heading into 2022.
Locally we witnessed a cool start to spring with moderate temps which slowed the growing of grass. Now we’re thriving with stirrup high “Big Blue” and looking forward to the mild fall to come weaning more pounds of beef than the previous year. We are excited this year with a heifer class that has been a product of thirty plus years of dedication. With the use of Express Ranch genetics, we have obtained more recognition with our females and an increased demand in a competitive marketplace.
Please join us this year at the ranch, Saturday, September 4, as we offer you our quality replacement females. Come early to view the cattle and then join us for a chuckwagon lunch. Don’t hesitate to call, text, or email any questions or to inquire about photos or videos of cattle!
